2. Registration is open for the GWiCS International Women's Day Celebration! This High Tea on Sunday March 7th will be a celebration of women in all areas of computing, from SOCS and beyond! We will be strengthening our connections with the lovely women of tech by hearing the stories of some influential women in the field (including your professors) as well as sharing our own stories in smaller themed tearooms. In addition to providing you with the perfect excuse to drink tea, flaunt a fascinator, and eat some finger foods, attendees will be automatically entered to win a prize gift card for your favourite tea or coffee establishment. Lastly, this Saturday Feb 27 GWiCS members have been invited to a Technical Interview Day hosted by Ryerson WiCS. There will be hands-on group workshops with LeetCode-style interview questions, plus a fireside chat panel with guest speakers who have landed some pretty cool internships. Hey GWiCS - Happy Reading Week! ❄️💖
Some GWiCS Updates:
* Merch reminder: you have until Sunday to submit merch designs. We've seen some beautiful ideas so far! Voting will open next week 👕🤠
* Save the date for our GWiCS International Women's Day Celebration! We'll be hosting an online afternoon-tea-themed event on Sunday March 7th from 2 - 3pm. There will be prizes, roundtable discussions with employers and SoCS professors, and much more to look forward to! Registration form coming soon 😊
* Online school can be difficult, especially socially, so we're presenting... GWiCS Coffee Buddies! Are you a female/non-binary computing student looking to meet some new friends in SoCS? Find a time to meet virtually and chat about whatever you like, for however long you want! A few GWiCS updates:
* Last call for Go CODE Girl volunteers! The event is next Saturday Feb 13 from 1 - 4pm. We have an awesome group of GWiCS volunteers helping run this virtual event for young girls interested in computer science and technology. We're having a quick training session for volunteers tomorrow at 3pm. Please email us if you're interested and we'll invite you to the session!
* Merch alert! This year GWiCS is offering merch, and we're looking for one of you to create the design. You have until Feb 21 (end of reading week) to submit your designs to gwics(a)uoguelph.ca<mailto:gwics@uoguelph.ca>. We'll hold a vote, and the winner will receive free merch! Check our Slack channel for more design guidelines.
* Stay tuned for some social events in March, including a GWiCS celebration for International Women's Day 🎉
