Hello! The Writing team in the Library is recruiting 6-8 undergraduate students to join our Writing Peer Helpers. New peers start training in the Winter 2026 semester. The deadline to apply is October 19, 2025.   

 

• Are you a student who likes helping others? 
• Do you want to improve your skills as an effective writer and communicator and receive ongoing training and interpersonal mentorship from university staff? 
• Would you like to be more involved on campus and become a part of an amazing group of 50+ student staff who work in the library?

Required Time Commitment  
5 hours/week (~60 hours/semester)

As a Writing Services Peer Helper you will...   

• receive a full semester of training and ongoing mentorship   
• increase your confidence and improve your communication skills 
• support first-year students in developing successful writing strategies   
• increase your awareness of different campus communities and resources 
• join the Writing team of undergraduate writing peers, graduate writing TAs, and professional staff 
• become a part of the larger campus-wide Peer Helper Program with its 30+ year history of students helping students at U of G! 

Benefits include professional skill development, quality training and coaching from professional staff, dedicated workspace in the McLaughlin Library, cross-unit engagement with other Library Peer Helper teams, an honorarium, and recognition of participation on your official academic transcript.
