Dear CEPS community,

As we continue to advance preparation and planning to bring forward to Senate in June a proposal to create two colleges from our current College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, I have formed two ad hoc committees. The role of these committees is to advise me throughout this process and help prepare the proposal for Senate.  The members of the two committees are as follows:

Physics, Mathematics and Statistics, Chemistry, and Computer Science

Stacey Scott – Professor, Computer Science (Chair of Ad hoc)

Minglun Gong – Director, School of Computer Science

Kathryn Preuss – Chair, Chemistry

Peter Tremaine – Professor, Chemistry

Rajesh Pereira – Chair, Mathematics & Statistics

Monica Cojocaru – Professor, Mathematics & Statistics and ADRGS

Stefan Kycia – Chair, Physics

Mark Torcoletti – ADFO - CEPS (non-voting member)

Moncef Nehdi – Dean and Chair of Ad hoc Engineering Committee (non-voting member)

Moncef Nehdi – Dean, CEPS (Chair of Ad hoc)

Ibrahim Deiab – Director, School of Engineering

Julie Vale – Associate Director - Undergraduate Studies

Andrew Binns - Area Head - Environmental Engineering and Water Resources

Fantahun M. Defersha - Area Head - Mechanical Engineering

Shawki M. Areibi - Area Head - Engineering Systems and Computing + Computer Engineering

The Chair of each committee will sit as a non-voting member of the other committee. This is being done to ensure transparency and working collaboratively as we move forward.

Both Chairs are engaging with faculty and staff throughout this process and welcome your input.  They, along with our VPSA and AVPA, will also continue to engage students through our formal student governance channels.

Best regards,

Bill
