Hey GWiCS,
We hope you had a solid end to the semester and are enjoying a well-earned break after a whole year of online school... you did it! 😎🌞💯
Our election results are in - congratulations to the new 2021-2022 GWiCS exec team:
* Julia Hohenadel and Mary Bergin as Co-Presidents
* Leen Al-Jallad as Events Manager
* Lara Ezzeddine as Marketing Manager
* Sophie Mlodzik as Financial Manager
With this stellar team, including two returning execs and three new ones, we're so excited for what the future has in store for GWiCS. This year's election had the most applicants ever, with amazing candidates and a high voter turnout... so thanks everyone for showing up. And if you missed the opportunity to join the team, don’t worry - stay tuned for the chance to become a GWiCS year rep in the Fall!
Here's an upcoming event for SOCS students: The BCOMP discord server is hosting its first ever hackathon - BCOMPATHON - from May 28th to 30th! In partnership with Distributed Compute Labs, the hackathon features two main challenges: the Discord bot challenge, and the DCP challenge. The prize pool includes $450 and several other server prizes, plus the first-place winner of the Discord bot challenge will have their bot deployed on the server (looks great on your resume)! If you're interested in participating and want to hear more, join the BCOMP server at https://discord.gg/9ZzgMJS9ES and stay tuned for more information in the #announcements channel. If you have any questions, you can email Aysu at agundoga(a)uoguelph.ca<mailto:agundoga@uoguelph.ca>.
Lastly, we would like to say thank you and farewell to our graduating Marketing Manager, @Ellen Brown<mailto:ebrown16@uoguelph.ca>! Ellen has been involved with GWiCS since the club's beginning and has been such an important part of the team, often stepping outside of her role to help plan and run events for the club. Ellen - a massive thank you for all the event posters, Instagram posts and Saturday afternoons you have given to GWiCS over the last few years. You will be missed!
That's all from me. I hope you all have a safe and happy summer - it's been a tough year all around, so make sure you take some time to recharge! 🌞🌞🌞
All the best,
Maddie G

Hey GWiCS - we have some exciting updates to wrap up the week!
🗳 Want to be part of our awesome exec team next school year? Our 2021-2022 elections are coming up and we would love to see you apply! This is a great chance to get involved in SOCS, make new friends, and add something cool to your resume. If you're interested in being our Events Manager, Financial Manager, Marketing Manager, or a Co-President, head over to linktr.ee/guelphwics<http://linktr.ee/guelphwics> to view a description of each position and apply. Applications close March 31st, and voting will take place in April. Any female or non-binary SOCS student is welcome to apply.
📣 Merch alert!!! It was a tight race - but the winner of our merch design contest is Aysu Gundogan with her beautiful drawing of Reynolds, our home away from home! Congrats Aysu, and thanks to everyone who submitted designs - we loved them all!
While we would normally bulk order and distribute the merch on campus, this year due to COVID you can purchase anything you like from our Redbubble shop and have it shipped directly to you. Shipping to Guelph is under $6 for clothing orders but can go up to $20 if you order different combinations of items. In an effort to make this as cheap as possible for students, we have removed the markup on all items (so we're not profiting off the sales).
Click here<https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/72506964?ref=studio-promote> to view & purchase our merch - you can rep GWiCS on t-shirts, hoodies, sweaters, stickers, mugs, socks and more!
Some potential discounts for you:
* If this is your first time on Redbubble, follow this link<https://www.talkable.com/x/ewfO8p> to use our referral code and get $15 off your order.<https://www.talkable.com/x/ewfO8p>
* If you already have a Redbubble account, you can generate your own referral code<https://www.redbubble.com/p/338-friends-share> to share with someone new (you each get $15 off).
* Redbubble has a 15% student discount when you spend $40 or more (verify your student status through StudentBeans<https://redbubble.connect.studentbeans.com/>).
* See more deals here<https://www.redbubble.com/p/344-redbubble-coupons-deals-promotions?irclicki…>!
Feel free to use #gwics on GryphSlack to distribute referral codes or organize group shipping if you live near friends in the club.
Please email us if you have any questions - and have an awesome weekend!
Maddie
