⭐ GWiCS Election Results + Upcoming BCOMP Hackathon! ⭐

Hey GWiCS, We hope you had a solid end to the semester and are enjoying a well-earned break after a whole year of online school... you did it! 😎🌞💯 Our election results are in - congratulations to the new 2021-2022 GWiCS exec team: * Julia Hohenadel and Mary Bergin as Co-Presidents * Leen Al-Jallad as Events Manager * Lara Ezzeddine as Marketing Manager * Sophie Mlodzik as Financial Manager With this stellar team, including two returning execs and three new ones, we're so excited for what the future has in store for GWiCS. This year's election had the most applicants ever, with amazing candidates and a high voter turnout... so thanks everyone for showing up. And if you missed the opportunity to join the team, don’t worry - stay tuned for the chance to become a GWiCS year rep in the Fall! Here's an upcoming event for SOCS students: The BCOMP discord server is hosting its first ever hackathon - BCOMPATHON - from May 28th to 30th! In partnership with Distributed Compute Labs, the hackathon features two main challenges: the Discord bot challenge, and the DCP challenge. The prize pool includes $450 and several other server prizes, plus the first-place winner of the Discord bot challenge will have their bot deployed on the server (looks great on your resume)! Hey GWiCS, The results are in - it was a super tight race, but congratulations to Aysu Gündogan for winning our merch design contest with her beautiful drawing of Reynolds! We'll be making our merch (including stickers, sweaters/hoodies and t-shirts) available through Redbubble in the next couple weeks - so stay tuned. Our International Women's Day Celebration is this Sunday March 8 from 2-3pm. There will be professors, students, and industry professionals from Guelph and beyond at the event to share their stories and celebrate all things women-in-computing!
