Hi Everyone,
This email is going to all Computing students registered in a CIS course this fall. If you are not thinking about dropping any courses you can stop reading here.
The last day to drop fall courses without academic penalty is November 28. If you drop a fall course by then it disappears from your transcript.
In general, when dropping a course students are considering their chances of passing, their cumulative grade point average, and being academically full time or part time. Remaining in 2.0 credits or more after November 28th will make you a full-time student regardless of whether or not classes are passed or failed. Less than 2.0 credits past November 28th, part time.
Some considerations:
* International students usually have to be full time. https://www.uoguelph.ca/studentexperience/international-student-advising/
* Varsity athletes: eligibility to compete. Check with your Coach.
* Scholarships: some require full time.
* OSAP, but this varies. OSAP full time and academic full time are not always the same. finaid@uoguelph.camailto:finaid@uoguelph.ca
* Co-op: may be fine as long as you can continue following your sequence but please check in with coverlan@uoguelph.camailto:coverlan@uoguelph.ca well before the drop deadline.
* Health insurance, car insurance, etc. We don’t know, depends on your circumstances.
* The semester is long past refunds: https://www.uoguelph.ca/registrar/finances-fees/refunds-appeals/
Aside from those considerations students can generally study at their own pace, knowing that graduation will be delayed or credits need to be made up in summer.
Sincerely, Greg and Sarah
