Fall 2021 CIS*1910: Format Changed

Hello CIS*1910 Students, The lecture format for CIS*1910 has changed to online for the semester due to last minute staffing changes. All of you will have the option to watch the lectures live online in the 8:30AM to 9:50AM lecture time. The lectures will also be recorded in case you can’t make them. (The afternoon section is now asynchronous. You could watch the recorded lecture if you could not make the morning one.) The tutorials will remain in person as scheduled. As far as I know they are optional help sessions with teaching assistants and are not mandatory, but your professor will confirm details in the first (online) class. The Ontario Graduate Scholarship application is available on the Office of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies website <https://graduatestudies.uoguelph.ca/current/funding/scholarships/gov-funded…>. The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) Program recognizes academic excellence in graduate studies at the master's and doctoral levels in all disciplines of academic study. The program is jointly supported by funds provided by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities ('Ministry') and funds provided by the University of Guelph. The Ministry contributes two-thirds of the value of the award and the university provides one-third. (Important: Students must apply for OGS at the institution where they are/or plan to be registered in a master’s or doctoral program in 2021-22. The OGS is not transferrable; it must be held at the institution at which it was awarded.) W21 CIS Course Selection

Hello Computing Students, The first day of course selection has started. Depending on your semester level, you will all be adding courses over the next week or two. If you are unable to add a required CIS course when your course selection day starts we need to hear about that right away. Do not wait days or weeks for spots to open. For CIS electives feel free to check in but we might not be able to help so add something else while you wait for a response. For example, 4th year CIS electives will probably be full with 4th year students before 3rd and 2nd year students can add (even if you have the pre-requisites). Winter 2021 UTA Positions Posted

Hello BCOMP Students, Winter 2021 Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UTA) positions have been posted. If you are considering being a teaching assistant, please prepare a résumé and head to https://www.uoguelph.ca/sessional_ta/teaching-assistant. Application Material If this will be your first time applying to be a teaching assistant, you will have to set up your profile information, which will auto-populate some of the fields in your application material. After that, you can apply to be a UTA for any course listed as a UTA work assignment. Clicking on the Posting ID (far-left column in the table located on the page linked above) will provide you with the full description of the job, as well as any requirements we are looking for in potential candidates for the position. Although we are only posting to hire for one position per course, we might need more than one person for each course, depending on enrolment rates.
